Policies to Remain a Member
Academic Standing
Each member must keep a weighted 3.5 GPA at all times.
Attend Meetings
There no longer are General (in-school) meetings for NHS. In lieu of that, we are now having meetings after and before school. While they happen quite frequently, each member is only required to come to ONE meeting per semester. (Officers are required to come to all meetings unless excused beforehand.) For your convenience, we have tried to schedule them on different days of the week and provided the schedule at the beginning of the semester.
Service Hour Requirements
New inductees (inducted after the first semester) are required to perform 8 service hours through NHS. Returning members are required to perform 12 service hours per year. While we encourage lots of community involvement, these hours must be done through NHS to benefit the school.
Uncompleted Service Hours
If a student did not complete all of their hours, we have a grace period. Students must complete double the number of hours they did not complete by December 14, 2007.
This policy is up for debate at the beginning of every school year for the students present at steering committee meetings.
